Manager, SBS Ombudsman's Office

This role is classified as Level 5 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a full-time base salary range of $106,000 - $120,000 pro rata at 0.6 FTE). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department

The SBS Ombudsman is an internal media ombudsman who independently investigates complaints about SBS content to assess compliance with SBS’s Code of Practice.

The Role

Reporting to the SBS Ombudsman, this role will see you:  

  • Working in a unique part-time role with exposure to a variety of content – news and current affairs, television programs, audio, world movies, digital and social media content - for the world’s most multicultural broadcaster. 
  • Managing the functions of the SBS Ombudsman’s office, ensuring the effective, efficient and trusted delivery of SBS’s independent Code complaint system: gathering submissions, drafting responses, preparing research and reports, and nurturing relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Demonstrated skills in research into content, regulatory and classification matters and providing advice on those issues.
  • Established experience in preparing and proof-reading detailed written material, including investigations and reports with data analysis and graphs.
  • Legal, journalism or media background is preferred.
